| Health care research builds knowledge, develops new therapies, and informs the choices we make in our daily lives. Clinical, behavioral, and epidemiological research with human participants is vital in our efforts to understand human health. The Institute for Johns Hopkins Nursing provides training programs for research coordinators and investigators, taught by leading experts from The Johns Hopkins University Schools of Medicine, Nursing, and the Bloomberg School of Public Health. Our Research Coordinator Training Program, the core of our research education, has trained over 800 coordinators since its first offering in 2003.
Research Coordinator Training Program
In many settings, the detailed work of implementing a research study is delegated to the research coordinator or research nurse. Coordinators are often responsible for managing grants and budgets, preparing regulatory submissions, writing study protocols, creating data collection forms, managing databases, developing recruiting plans, and supervising staff. Many people in this role know all too well the difficulties of learning how to do it "on-the job!"
The Institute for Johns Hopkins Nursing offers a formal preparation to provide coordinators with the skills necessary to be successful in this very important role. We provide:
- Training on all the components required in conducting of successful research
- Ongoing updates to Federal regulations and guidelines
- Expert mentoring from the program faculty
- Basic and advanced programs to meet the learning needs of both new and experienced coordinators
The Institute for Johns Hopkins Nursing also offers customized research coordinator training for multi-site and/or international research programs.
