Examples of OGN activities include facilitating the international education of nursing students, providing support to global nursing research initiatives, encouraging international nursing practice projects, and assisting with global outreach efforts. OGN also works closely with other Johns Hopkins entities to provide consultation services, educational programs, and site visits to nurses and health care organizations worldwide.

OGNs rich resources include the Pan American Health Organization/World Health Organization Collaborating Center for Knowledge and Information Management and Sharing and its Global Alliance for Nursing and Midwifery.
