The 2009 flu vaccination program in Maryland will require significantly more capacity.  Public anxiety about flu is likely to increase the numbers of state residents seeking vaccination against seasonal flu.  The H1N1 flu vaccine is expected to be available in early October.  Maryland nurses will protect the health of our population by their contribution of time and expertise to the vaccination campaign.

Upon completion of this continuing education activity, the nurse will be able to:
  • Describe evidence-based recommendations for intra-muscular (IM) and intra-nasal vaccine administration to children and adults
  • Identify appropriate sites for IM vaccine injections in children and adults
  • Describe safe and effective methods of child restraint during IM vaccine administration

This educational activity has been funded by a grant from the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, Office of Preparedness and Response.

To obtain contact hours, you must complete this educational activity and post-test before 9/16/2011.
